Alpha Chi, Nimtz honored at national convention

Huntington, Ind. "The Huntington College Alpha Chi Honor Society was recently selected as an Alpha Chi Star Chapter for the tenth consecutive year at the Alpha Chi National Convention, held April 7-9, 2005, in St. Louis, Mo. For the second straight year, a Huntington College Alpha Chi member won a national Alpha Chi Scholarship. Rebekah Nimtz, a junior English major from Cromwell, Ind., was awarded a Nolle Scholarship for the 2005-2006 school year. The Huntington College Alpha Chi chapter is one of only six chapters that has won the national Star Chapter award every year since its inception in 1996. Six HC Alpha Chi members attended this year's national convention including Joni Michaud, chapter president; Dwight Simon, chapter vice-president; Lori Merkle, Region V Student Representative to the Alpha Chi National Council; Stephen Boston, Victoria Hall, and Chad Pryor.
Michaud, Hall, and Simon presented a well-attended workshop at the convention about the Huntington College student group, Page 6, and issues concerning academic freedom. Their workshop was part of the national meeting's emphasis on honor and integrity.
In addition, Rachel Tinon, a senior English major and Alpha Chi member from Pataskala, Ohio, recently had her scholarship winning paper from last year, Bruised Reed, Smoking Flax, published in the latest edition of Alpha Chi Record, Vol. 48 (2005) Nr.1.
