Alum promoted to key position at Atlas World Group
FOR RELEASE: Sunday, January 2, 2005
EVANSVILLE, Ind. " Greg L. Hoover, a 1982 Huntington College history graduate, is starting 2005 on a high note. He has been recently promoted to senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Evansville, Indiana based Atlas World Group. Atlas World Group is the holding company for Atlas Van Lines, Inc., a nationwide interstate motor carrier. Atlas is the second-largest carrier of household goods and specialty products, and is the fastest growing major mover in the industry. According to the company's chairman and CEO Michael Shaffer, Hoover's promotion was a strategic move to create consistency in sales, marketing and outreach opportunities, and grow an already identifiable brand, something Hoover knows is important for continued growth.
As we leverage our opportunities, current and future customers will know that we offer a very diverse palate of services, said Hoover. With a broad perspective and the ability to pull from our various strengths and successes, we can capitalize on marketing opportunities across the entire brand.
Hoover credits his experience at Huntington College with helping him develop skills he uses today. "I was involved in student government at Huntington. A lot of what I learned in terms of leadership directly relates to my work now, he said. I think Huntington was unusual because it gave students a big voice in how the college was run. They gave a lot of credibility, voice, and leadership opportunities to the students. It helped me develop confidence and leadership ability that I could use down the road."
A native of Mentone, Indiana, Hoover has 16 years in the van line industry, serving as president and COO of A.B.C. Moving & Storage, an Atlas agent based in St. Louis before joining Atlas in 1999. He's active with the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA), and the Employee Relocation Council (ERC), and is a member of the Atlas Board of Directors Advisory Group.
Atlas Van Lines is the largest subsidiary of Atlas World Group, an Evansville, Indiana based company that posted record revenues of more than $600 million in 2004. Atlas employs more than 700 employees throughout North America. More than 600 Atlas agents in the United States and Canada specialize in corporate employee relocation and in the transportation of high-value items such as electronics, fine art and new fixtures and furniture.
