Art Students recognized for their accomplishments

HUNTINGTON, IN --- The Huntington College Art Department held its Eleventh Annual Student Art Show awards ceremony in March, honoring students for excellence in photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, illustration, computer illustration, printmaking, and ceramics.

Those students who received honors are:

Josh Middleton, a sophomore Graphic Design major from Sugar Land, Texas, received the Best of Show honor having his painting and assemblage piece "Hammer" purchased by the College and added to its permanent collection.

Brooke Hopper, a senior Fine Arts major from Huntington, Indiana, received the First Place Award of $150 for her ceramic sculpture, Time Tells. Hopper also received outstanding achievement in sculpture for her piece, Gyre.

Tonya Lonsbury, a senior Graphic Design major from Angola, Indiana, received the Second Place Award of $100 for her drawing "Kelly." Lonsbury also received outstanding achievement in graphic design suite for her work entitled "Annie's Attic."

Jordan Hopper, a junior Art Education major from Huntington, Indiana, received the Third Place Award of $75 for her painting "Ancient." Hopper also received outstanding achievement in printmaking for her woodcut, Doges Arches.

The Art Show was held March 1-30 in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery in the Merillat Centre for the Arts and showcased the best works students have created throughout the year. Jared Janovec of Bloomington, IN was the juror for this year's show.

Additional student works will be exhibited during the Spring Senior Art Exhibit,
