Artist, professor to speak at spring colloquium

Huntington, Ind.-Huntington University's RichLyn Library will host Steve Leeper, instructor in digital media arts, for the spring "Focus on Excellence" colloquium. The event will be held at 8 p.m. on April 23 in the Johnson Conference Room of the library. Admission is free, and parking is available in the lot adjacent to the library. Light refreshments will be served.
Leeper will present "How Picture Books Saved My Soul." A question-and-answer session will follow his lecture.
Leeper is a filmmaker, storyteller and educator. Originally from the Midwest, Leeper studied animation, painting and drawing at the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston. In 1997, Leeper joined Big Idea Productions. Between 1998 and 2003, he served as layout supervisor for numerous productions including the feature film "Jonah: a VeggieTales Movie."
He is the animator/director of a number of short animated films which have enjoyed both national and international exposure. Among various other projects, Leeper is currently in production on his film "Moonboy and Shadow" which he hopes to complete within the year.
In January 2007, Leeper earned a Master of Fine Arts degree through the Art Institute of Boston. He works closely with Masterpiece Ministries helping to create workshop experiences designed to encourage and educate young artists as they grapple with issues surrounding creativity and faith.
