Award-winning social psychologist to give lecture

HUNTINGTON, IN NOVEMBER 13, 1996 --- David Myers will speak at Huntington College Monday, November 18, at 8 p.m. in the Longaker Recital Hall of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. His lecture, "The New Scientific Pursuit of Happiness: Who is Happy?" will conclude the fall semester's series of Forester Lectures at the College. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Myers will take a hard look at the things that do and do not predict people's feelings of well-being. During the lecture, Myers will explore whether happiness favors those of a particular age or sex. He will also examine wealth, marriage, and faith as indicators of contentment and joy. He will discuss new studies that have exploded old myths about what brings about happiness, and will reveal the marks of joy-filled people.

Myers is an award-winning social psychologist and professor at Hope College. He has written extensively in the area of social psychology. He has authored several books, including Psychology Through the Eyes of Faith.

The Forester Lecture Series is designed to bring interesting persons and topics to the attention of Huntington College students and the public. For further information, contact Professor Jack Barlow at (260) 356-6000, extension 2043.
