BandFest 2006 set to begin at Huntington University

Huntington, Ind. "The Huntington University Music Department is ready for BandFest 2006, the 26th annual Band Clinic, to be held February 4-5, 2006. The HU Band Clinic is open to instrumentalists from grades 8 -12, college, and community members who desire an opportunity to perform challenging band music, to work with guest conductors, and to experience Huntington University. Clinic participants will receive small group instruction on their primary instrument from qualified professional musicians. BandFest 2006 will turn the spotlight on composers of excellent band literature including John Philip Sousa, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Percy Grainger, Vincent Persichetti, Samuel Hazo, Robert Jager, Alfred Reed, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and David Holsinger.
Guest conductors for the Band Clinic include Mr. John Ginocchio, Mr. Thaine Campbell, and Mr. Marvin McNew, Jr., and Mr. Scott Hippensteel, director of Instrumental Music at Huntington University.
Please join the Huntington University Music Department in experiencing the enjoyment of fine band music performed in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts on the campus of Huntington University at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2006. This event is a free public concert.
