‘British Invasion’ to feature wind, jazz ensembles

Huntington, Ind.-Join the Huntington University Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble for a musical trip that will take you on a "British Invasion." The wind ensemble, with Dr. Robert Lynn, director, will perform a variety of music inspired by the British. Selections include "Moorside Suite" by Gustav Holst; "Ye Banks and Braes O Bonnie Doon" by Percy Grainger; "Lord of the Rings" - Excerpts from "Symphony No. 1" by Johan de Meij; "James Bond Returns"; "Symphonic Beatles"; "Acrostic Song" by David del Tredici from "Final Alice," based on Carroll Lewis' "Alice" adventures; "Rule Britannia"; "Stonehenge" by Debra Lynn, a composition based in part on the geometric and mathematical relationships of the structures at Stonehenge.
The jazz ensemble with Eric Clancy, director, will perform selected jazz standards. Experience an evening of live music of British influence.
The musical journey will start at 7:30 p.m. on April 24 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre of the Arts. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for students, seniors and Huntington University faculty and staff.
