Chi Alpha Sigma inducts 15 Foresters

Huntington, Ind. " Huntington College's Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, recently inducted 15 student-athletes into its ranks. The athletes join the 55 members in the society since its beginning in 1997. Induction into Chi Alpha Sigma requires a student-athlete to achieve at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, earn a varsity letter, be a junior or senior in academic standing, and be of high moral character. Members of this honor society represent the finest student-athletes on Huntington College's campus.
We are blessed to have such outstanding young men and women participating in athletics here at Huntington College, said HC athletic director and head men's and women's tennis coach, Gary Turner. It is evident in their everyday lives that they possess integrity, character and high academic achievement. They are outstanding representatives of Jesus Christ, Huntington College and the Huntington community.
Christopher A. Buehrer is a junior elementary education major from Archbold, Ohio (Archbold High School). He is a member of the Forester cross country and track and field teams, an All-American Scholar Athlete, a member of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society, a member of Kappa Delta Pi (the International Honor Society for Educators), and is a Dean's List honoree.
Walter P. Burgin is a junior business accounting major from Kokomo, Ind. (Kokomo Northwestern High School). He is a member of the Forester track and field team, Phi Beta Lambda (the business honor society) and is a Dean's List honoree.
Denis Dreni is a junior computer science major from Cedar Rapids, Iowa (Linn-Mar High School). He is a member of the Forester soccer team and is a Dean's List honoree.
Jeffery A. Edgel is a junior elementary education major from Grand Ledge, Mich. (Grand Ledge High School). He is a member of the Forester soccer team and is a Dean's List honoree.
Benjamin E. Eggleston is a senior mathematics major from Elkhart, Ind. (Jimtown High School). He is a member of the Forester tennis team, a member of Alpha Chi and a Dean's List honoree.
Rebecca A. Harness is a senior biology major from Byron Center, Mich. (Byron Center High School). She is a member of the Forester tennis team and is a Dean's List honoree.
Nicole E. Jacob is a junior psychology major from Van Wert, Ohio (Van Wert High School). She is a member of the Forester cross country and track teams and a Dean's List honoree.
Aaron T. Klopfenstein is a junior business accounting major from Wauseon, Ohio (Wauseon High School). He is a member of the Forester baseball team and a Dean's List honoree.
Brandon R. Schwartz is a junior art education major from Brooklyn, Mich. (Columbia Central High School). He is a member of the Forester track and field team and a Dean's List honoree.
Dana M. Starks is a senior exercise science major from Grand Ledge, Mich. (Grand Ledge High School). She is a member of the Forester tennis team and a Dean's List honoree.
Ryan D. Thwaits is a junior business management major from Syracuse, Ind. (Fairfield High School). He is a member of the Forester basketball team, an honorable mention All-American, a second-team All-Mid-Central Conference player, an All-American Scholar Athlete and a Dean's List honoree.
Kathleen R. Turner is a junior communication studies major from Huntington, Ind. (McPherson High School [Kan.]). She is a member of the Forester tennis team and a Dean's List honoree.
Lindsey D. Weber is a junior educational ministries major from Kendallville, Ind. (East Noble High School). She is a member of the Forester tennis team and a Dean's List honoree.
Brooke L. Welch is a junior communications major from Berne, Ind. (South Adams High School). She is a member of the Forester cross country and track and field teams, an All-American Scholar Athlete and a Dean's List honoree.
Derek A. Yoder is a junior psychology major from Shipshewana, Ind. (Westview High School). He is a member of the Forester basketball team, an All-American Scholar Athlete and a Dean's List honoree.
The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women and hold membership in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). In the past six years, Huntington has produced 43 All-America honors and 69 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington College is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 60 academic concentrations.
