Coffey successfully defends doctoral dissertation

Huntington, Ind.-Ron Coffey, vice president for student development at Huntington University, successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at Indiana State University on Tuesday. Coffey's study focused on perceived stress among first-year college students. He will receive a Ph.D. in higher education administration and leadership.
"I am very proud of Ron's outstanding accomplishment," said Dr. G. Blair Dowden, president of Huntington University. "He has successfully managed his own stress levels while juggling a doctoral program, leadership responsibilities at Huntington University, and commitments to his family and church. Ron's achievement brings added distinction to our Student Development program."
A veteran of the Huntington University administration, Coffey has served as vice president for student development since 2003. For nine years, he was the associate dean for student development. Coffey earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and management from Huntington University and a master's degree in student personnel administration from Ball State University. Coffey is a former resident director and Youth for Christ director.
