College and High School musicians present fall concert

HUNTINGTON, IN OCTOBER 1, 1996 ---The Huntington College Music Department will combine their ensembles with the Huntington North High School Chamber Singers to present their fall Sacred Music Concert. The concert will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, located at 648 N. Lafontaine St. in Huntington, on October 21 at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Huntington College Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Marlene Schleiffer, will provide prelude music, performing Contrapunctus No. 1 by J.S. Bach and Canon by J. Pachelbel. The ensemble will also perform Trumpet Voluntary by Jeremiah Clarke as a postlude.

The Huntington College Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. David Wallis and accompanied by Bonnie Stephan, will sing Ralph Vaughan Williams' O Clap Your Hands. The choir will be joined by the Huntington North High School Chamber Singers, under the direction of John Wenning, and the college's Chamber Orchestra, directed by Schleiffer, to perform Zadok the Priest by G.F. Handel and three movements of the Magnificat by John Rutter.

Bonnie Stephan will present an organ solo, Thou Art The Rock, by Henry Mulet.

The Rev. Alan Goebbert and Fr. Thomas Wirth will be featured as soloists during the concert. They will sing the invocation, Come, Holy Spirit, and several selections from Songs of Faith. The audience will also be invited to lift their voices in praise during the concert.
