Denver & the Mile High Orchestra postpones show

Huntington, Ind.-"Denver & the Mile High Orchestra" has postponed a concert at Huntington University's Merillat Centre for the Arts scheduled for Nov. 17.

Steve Pozezanac, director of the MCA and conference events, said he is working with the band to schedule a new date, but one has not been confirmed yet. Tickets already purchased will be honored on the new date.

"Denver & the Mile High Orchestra" postponed the Huntington concert because of the production schedule for "The Next Great American Band," a new competition series airing on Fox. DMHO was one of 12 bands to be chosen as a semifinalist. On the show, airing Fridays at 8 p.m., the groups perform a song, and then audience calls in and votes for their favorite group. The group with the fewest votes is eliminated. The winner will receive a contract with 19 recordings and earn the title of "The Next Great American Band."

Formed by a group of friends at Nashville's Belmont University in 1999, DMHO is comprised of three trumpet players, three saxophone players, two trombone players and a rhythm section. In the eight years since its inception, the group has traveled around the globe, performing at churches, conferences, festivals-even at the Olympics-taking their horn-driven sound to the masses.
