Department of Music to host annual band invitational

Students from the 2006 Band Invitational Huntington, Ind.-Director Scott Hippensteel and the Huntington University Wind Ensemble with will host the Fifth Annual Band Invitational on Oct. 9.
Crestview Middle School Eighth Grade Band with Douglas McElhaney, director; the Riverview Middle School Seventh/Eighth Grade Band with James Court, director; and the Huntington North High School Concert Band with Thaine Campbell and John Gardner, directors, will join the university's Wind Ensemble.
Music featured will include "1812 Overture," "March on a Scottish Air," "Bryce Canyon Overture," "Americans We," "Down A Country Lane," "E Pluribus Unum," "American Civil War Fantasy," "Clarinet Polka," and "Suite of Old American Dances."
The downbeat will be 7 p.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium of Merillat Centre for the Arts, and no tickets are necessary for this free concert.
