Department of Music to host annual Band Invitational

Huntington, Ind.-Director Scott Hippensteel and the Huntington University Wind Ensemble with will host the Fourth Annual Band Invitational on Oct. 10. Crestview Middle School Eighth Grade Band with Douglas McElhaney, director; the Riverview Middle School Seventh/Eighth Grade Band with James Court, director; and the Manchester College Symphonic Band with Suzanne Gindin, director, will join the HU Wind Ensemble.
Music featured will include "March of the Irish Guard," "Russian Sailor's Dance," "Disney Blockbusters," "Hymn to the Fallen," "Chronicles of Narnia," "Tirana," "The Liberty Bell," "With Quiet Courage," "Them Basses March," and "An Original Suite" by Gordon Jacob.
Both collegiate bands will combine to perform two selections as a concert finale: "Chorale and Alleluia" by Howard Hanson and "Ride" by Samuel Hazo.
The downbeat will be 7 p.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium of Merillat Centre for the Arts, and no tickets are necessary for this free concert.
