Dinner celebrates 100-year partnership between ‘town and gown’
HUNTINGTON, IN SEPTEMBER 24, 1996 --- "College and Community: A 100 year Partnership" will be the theme of the Huntington College Foundation's Annual dinner on September 26 in the Habecker Dining Commons. A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:00.
A panel of speakers will reflect on the century-long relationship between the Christian liberal arts school and its surrounding community. Speakers will address the past, present, and future of the town-gown relations. Featured panelist will be G. Blair Dowden, Ann McPherren, Barb Hancher, Don Purviance, and Christina Butts.
The Huntington College Foundation was founded in 1938 by local business leaders interested in advancing higher education in Huntington County. The foundation provides a formal link to between College and community by underwriting scholarships for local students, sponsoring monthly breakfast programs, and hosting its annual dinner.
