Dowden elected as CCCU Chairman of the Board

Huntington, Ind. " Dr. G. Blair Dowden, president of Huntington College, was recently elected Chairman of the Board of The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU). As the CCCU Board Chair, Dowden will soon appoint committees from the board. According to the CCCU Board Standing Policies, the responsibility of the chair is to ensure the integrity of the board's process. The responsibilities of the CCCU Board include determining and holding the Council to its mission and goals, establishing standing policies to guide the board and staff, linking with campus presidents and acting on institutional membership and affiliate issues. The board also selects, nurtures and evaluates the CEO, ensures financial solvency and integrity, requires periodical external audits, helps represent the Council externally, serves as final arbiter in unresolved internal audit disputes and evaluates and improves itself as the governing body.
The CCCU is an international higher education association of intentionally Christian colleges and universities. Founded in 1976 with 38 members, the Council has grown to 105 members in North America and 63 affiliate institutions in 23 countries. The CCCU is headquartered on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. It exists to advance the cause of Christ-centered higher education and to help its institutions transform lives by faithfully relating scholarship and service to biblical truth.
