Drew Wutke to present Senior Recital

Huntington, Ind. "Drew Wutke, a senior choral music education major, from Girard, Kan., will perform his senior recital on Saturday, November 20, at 3 p.m. The recital, held in the Longaker Recital Hall in the Merillat Centre for the Arts, is open to the public and admission is free.

Wutke began piano lessons at age five, and is currently instructed by Dr. Patricia Spedden, director of piano studies and theory at Huntington College. He has also studied vocal performance at Huntington College with Professor Ben Kendall, instructor in music at HC, and most recently with Dr. John Thompson, assistant professor of music at HC. In addition to his studies, Wutke instructs children from the Huntington area in piano.

Wutke is a member of the Huntington College Concert Choir and the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honors Society. He performed at the 2003 and 2004 Music Department Concerto Competitions. He also performed in the Longaker Honors Recital on two occasions.

Wutke has had several roles on the HC Theatre Company stage, being featured in such musical productions as Oklahoma!, Into the Woods, and the upcoming performances of Pippin. He also toured with HC's Cotton Patch Gospel during the summer of 2003. Drew attends Good Shepherd UB Church where he works as a mentor for the middle school youth and is part of the music team.

The senior recital will include piano and vocal selections from the works of Robert Schumann, Claude Debussy, Isaac Albeniz and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Audience members will hear pieces from numerous musical eras, and the performance features Christina Watson on piano and a vocal duet with Leah Coon. The program will run approximately 45 minutes, with a brief intermission.
