Education Department welcomes local groups to Math Trail
FOR RELEASE: Wednesday, September 25, 2002
Huntington, Ind. " Huntington College math students recently led Huntington Area Home Educators on the Huntington College Math Trail, located on the HC campus. The Huntington College Math Trail, created by HC elementary education majors under the direction of Dr. Patrick Eggleton, offers questions at various sites around campus related to that area. Each site offers three levels of difficulty " early elementary, upper elementary and middle grades.
The students toured campus with their teachers and worked together on the problems at the various sites. Along with their teachers, students worked at their own speed and were encouraged to create their own problems as they worked together. Students were given measuring tape and calculators where needed. The trail ended at Science Hall, where they were given the opportunity to create their own mathematics problem for one of the many locations inside the building.
This is the first year that the Math Trail has been made available to the public. If you have a group that would like to tour the Trail, contact Dr. Patrick Eggleton at 359-4208. Groups will be provided with the Math Trail guide, a calculator and measuring tape.
