EXCEL offers certificate program to area businesses

Huntington, Ind.-Huntington University's EXCEL Adult Degree Programs is offering a Business Partnership Certificate program that allows area organizations to offer college-credit courses to their employees at a fixed cost.

"This program will be a great benefit to area businesses committed to equipping their workforces for maximum effectiveness," said Dr. Rick Upchurch, director of EXCEL. "The certificate requirements can be customized to fit the needs specific to the business, and the program offers the high quality instruction that is a hallmark of Huntington University."

Through the program, the business selects 12 credits hours from a list that includes accounting, Microsoft, mathematics, management, finance, marketing, human resource, and computer courses. Employees who earn a "C" or better in each course and complete the curriculum will receive a certificate.

Companies can customize the curriculum to meet their needs, and the courses can be taught either at the business or at one of EXCEL's three locations in Huntington, Columbia City, or Wabash.

The cost to the business is equal to the tuition for seven students, each taking 12 credit hours. The business may enroll up to 18 students in the courses at no additional charge for a savings of up to $42,900. Businesses may pay the tuition in installments. The cost of books is not included in this program and needs to be paid by the business or the employees enrolled in the course.

Students may apply the credits they earn through this program toward an Associate of Science degree in Organizational Management offered by EXCEL.
