Faculty exhibit on display in Wilson Gallery

Huntington, Ind. "The Robert E. Wilson Gallery in the Merillat Centre for the Arts at Huntington College currently hosts a collection of recent works by the Huntington College Visual Arts faculty. The exhibit will be on display through March 3, 2005. Admission is free and the exhibit will be open to the public weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and before all Merillat Centre for the Arts events.

Rebecca Coffman, associate professor of art, Ken Hopper, assistant professor of art, and Andrew Dickson, assistant professor of art, present recent works in painting, drawing, graphic design and ceramics.

For the past three years, I have focused my artistic research on industrial landscapes of the Port of Los Angeles, said Dickson, who came to Huntington in 2004 from California and displays various drawing and paintings. Although the Los Angeles Harbor is the second largest shipping port in the world, at times it can seem extremely remote as if completely removed from the surrounding city. I find myself attracted to this sense of isolation, and deeply moved by the stark beauty that exists there.

Coffman exhibits several of her recent explorations in ceramic vessel designs, including a series of pieces for a dinnerware set she produced as part of the Dinnerworks 2005 Exhibit, sponsored by the Louisville Visual Arts Association.

Hopper displays a number of Photoshop enhanced digital photos from a recent J-Term trip to Europe. Scenes from London, Paris, Tuscany and Rome are included.
