Fairchild to give lectures in Texas

This coming weekend (Oct. 11-13), Dr. Mark Fairchild, professor of Bible and religion, will give lectures on the recent discoveries and new insights from biblical archaeology at Alief Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Also, next month, he will publish an article on Paul's first missionary journey in Biblical Archaeology Review. The article is an attempt to discover the route and cities that Paul visited in Anatolia as he traveled from the Mediterranean coast to Pisidian Antioch. He published an article in BAR last June about his discoveries of the first synagogues in Turkey. The article asked the question, "Could the world's earliest known synagogue be buried amid rubble?"
