Family Weekend schedule filled with many activities

Huntington, Ind. "With students attending classes for two months now, parents and families may wonder what it is their loved one is really doing with his or her time. On November 2-3, parents and families will get a glimpse of that life at Huntington College's annual Family Weekend. Many activities are planned for the special weekend that fit all types of families and personalities. Classes will be open all day Friday for parents and families to attend, as will the Dining Commons for lunches and dinners. The residence halls will have open hours for families to visit the students' rooms Friday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the Bookstore will be open Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Visiting Executive Seminar will be held Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., there will be a General Session for all family members to attend with a welcome from President G. Blair Dowden. Huntington College administrators, Ned Kiser, Vice President for Advancement, and John Paff, Director of Communications, will present e-resources For Parents and Family at the General Session, which will introduce the families to the HC website and walk them through the locations and kinds of information, programming, and services available to them. The session will be followed by a reception where the families will meet the faculty and administrators of Huntington College.
For those who enjoy the arts, Huntington College Theatre presents its fall production, Side Show Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. Also, the Robert E. Wilson Art Gallery will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday with a new show, IGNITE, sponsored by Christians in the Visual Arts.
And of course, let's not forget about our mighty Forester athletic teams. The volleyball team will host the Huntington College Quad Volleyball Meet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. At 4 p.m., the Forester men's basketball team will host its season opener against Cedarville College, and wrapping up the day will be a 7 p.m. women's basketball scrimmage against Bluffton College.
Be sure to join embark on the All You Can Eat Pancake and Sausage Breakfast Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. The cost is $3 per person or $5 for two people. Proceeds will go to the student spring break missions trip to Honduras. Rounding out the weekend, join the Student Activities Board and Alumni Association Saturday at 10 p.m., after the theatre production for an Ice Cream Social at Norm's Place, located in the Huntington Union Building.
