Feldpausch, Reid to present combined senior recital

Huntington, Ind. "The Huntington University Music Department will present a combined senior recital by pianists Antoinette Feldpausch and James Jonathan Reid at 6 p.m. May 2 in the Longaker Recital Hall of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Feldpausch is a senior economics and finance major with a music minor from St. Johns, Mich. She has played the piano for 12 years. Feldpausch studied with Jean Hull in high school and currently studies with Dr. Patricia Spedden, director of piano studies. During her freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years at Huntington, Feldpausch was selected to perform in the Longaker Honors Recital and the Music Department's Christmas concert. In the spring of 2007, she was a guest musician at the Huntington University Women's Auxiliary spring semester breakfast. She has also been a member of the HU Women's Chorale and plays clarinet in the Wind Ensemble. Feldpausch will perform piano pieces such as Thirty-Two Variations on a Theme in C Minor by Beethoven, Etude in Ab Major, Op. 25, No. 1 by Chopin, and Piano Concerto in Bb Minor, Op. 23 by Tchaikovasky.
James Jonathan Reid
Reid was born to musical parents, both of whom played a variety of instruments. His mother, who is a gifted piano teacher, taught out of the home which exposed him to a variety of music throughout childhood. Reid started his formal piano training at age eight under his mother's instruction. For the next nine years, he would perform solos, duets and as an accompanist in biannual recitals. During his high school years, he studied two years of organ at a local church and participated in three piano competitions at Central Michigan University, the second of which awarded him a week of piano camp on site. Reid has been studying under Dr. Patricia Spedden at Huntington University where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in youth ministry and a minor in music. He is from Lansing, Mich. Reid will perform Sonata in C Minor, K 457 by Mozart, Nocturne in Bb Minor, Op. 9, No. 1 by Chopin, and Valsas Brasileiras by Mignone.
Feldpausch and Reid, along with Jennifer Jehl and Tana Denning, also will perform the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 with two pianos eight hands.
There is no charge for the recital, and it is open to the public.
