Fillman wins Forester Speak-Off

Huntington, Ind. "Each semester, Huntington College hosts The Great Forester Speak-Off, a competition showcasing the oratory talents of Huntington College students enrolled in the Public Speaking class. A student from each class section is nominated by his or her fellow classmates to compete against the other nominees. Students are then judged by a panel of professors. Sophomore Brittany Fillman won this semester's Forester Speak-Off on December 9, in the Recital Hall of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Fillman is an English education major from Markle, Ind. Runner-up honors were awarded to junior music business major Isaac Thompson. Thompson is from Covington, Ind. For their efforts, Fillman and Thompson were awarded exemption from the final exam in Public Speaking.
Other students competing in the Speak-Off were Jared Gleason, a junior missions major from Bluffton, Ohio; Benjamin Thompson, a sophomore music performance major from Covington, Ind.; and Whitney Wooden, a sophomore psychology major from Pendleton, Ind.
