First Annual Concerto Concert debuts Friday

Huntington, Ind. "Huntington College's First Annual Concerto Concert will be presented Friday, April 27, at 8 p.m. in the Merillat Centre for the Arts auditorium.

The performances will feature the college's most gifted students and one exceptionally talented high school student, chosen through a series of rigorous auditions last fall. The young performers have now had several months to thoroughly prepare chosen works for their instrument and orchestra.

These concerts will become the culmination of diligent study and creative interpretation in the performance program at Huntington College and will offer the community a chance to hear exciting and rarely-heard masterpieces, said Dr. Janice Fulbright, head of the Huntington College Music Department. This debut program is extremely varied and interesting, including works by Schubert, Mozart, Franz Strauss, Beethoven, and Gershwin.

Soloists include: Steven Bergdall, French Horn (High School Winner); Leah Coon, Jay Michaud, and Carrie Norris, piano; Katie Smith, French Horn; and Matt Maners, Student Conductor.

Tickets for the event are $5 and are available on reserve at the Merillat Centre Box Office or at the door on the night of the show. For more information or to reserve tickets, please call Margi Roush at (260) 359-4261 or visit www.huntington.edu/mca.
