Five communication students earn statewide honors

Huntington, Ind. "Five Huntington University students recently earned recognition from the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters through the organization's 2007 College State Awards. I'm so impressed with these student winners, said Dr. Lance Clark, associate professor of communication. They have all worked so hard on their projects, and this is a great way for them to be honored for their outstanding efforts. Our Communication Department emphasizes competition in the marketplace. It is a testing of students' communication abilities and storytelling skills. It's a great feeling knowing that Huntington University can compete and stand on its own against much larger state colleges and universities.
Junior digital media arts majors Josh Watson of Annapolis, Md., and Tyler Welker of Wooster, Ohio, took first place in the TV Entertainment Feature category.
This is the first time a Huntington University digital media arts student has entered and won an award with their media, Clark said. We are thrilled.
Senior film studies major Jeremy Fredin of Wichita, Kan., won first place in the TV Music Video category.
Broadcasting senior Todd Stapleton of Tipp City, Ohio, earned third place with HTV 22 News in the Newscast category, and broadcasting junior Sean Giggy of Andrews, Ind., took third place in the TV News Anchor category.
