Foundation Breakfast Slated for November 13

HUNTINGTON, IN OCTOBER 30, 1996 --- The Huntington College Foundation will hold its monthly breakfast meeting on Wednesday, November 13, 1996 in the Habecker Dining Commons. Dr. DeWitt Baker will share personal experiences from his tenure as president of Huntington College.

After earning his degree from Huntington College and serving in the armed forces, Baker spent 16 years as a missionary educator in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Baker and his wife, Evelyn, helped organize two schools there. Baker then returned to the United States and completed his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan. In 1965, he was elected president of the College. During his 16 years as president, the College experienced significant enrollment growth. In addition, several new facilities were added, including Hardy Hall, the Huntington Union Building (HUB), the Merillat Physical Education Center, and Baker Hall, named for him.

The public is cordially invited to attend. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m. The program will conclude by 9:00 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $3.50 per person. First-time guests are not charged. For further information, call Kay Schwob at 260-356-6000, ext. 1089.
