Four Huntington professors named to Who’s Who

Huntington, Ind. "Four members of the Huntington College faculty have been recognized for their teaching excellence and will be included in the sixth edition of Who's Who Among America's Teachers 2000 published by Educational Communications, Inc. This is an honor reserved to professors selected by one or more of their former students who themselves have been distinguished by being listed in The National Dean's List. Huntington College's honored professors include Karen Jones, Steve Lee, Evelyn Priddy, and Linda Urschel.

Dr. Karen E. Jones joined the Huntington College faculty in 1997 as assistant professor of educational ministries and associate director of the Link Institute for Faithful and Effective Youth Ministry. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Southwest Missouri State University, and another master's degree and a Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She serves on the executive board of Youth Ministry Educators, a professional organization representing professors of youth ministry from American colleges, universities, and seminaries.

Dr. Steve Lee chairs the undergraduate department of psychology at Huntington College and also teaches in the Graduate School of Christian Ministries. He is also an adjunct professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Denver Baptist Seminary. Prior to teaching he was a director of counseling for six years and counseled in private practice. He is the co-author of Boys to Men, a book offering practical strategies for parenting adolescent sons. Steve Lee earned his BA from Bethel College, MS from North Dakota State University, and Ed.D. from the University of South Dakota.

Dr. Evelyn Priddy, associate professor of education, graduated from Huntington College with a degree in elementary education. She completed her doctoral degree in reading at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She taught at the elementary level for thirteen years and supervised the K-12 reading programs of a school district for five years. Dr. Priddy joined the Huntington College faculty in 1990 and teaches the reading and language arts elementary methods courses. She is an active member of the Indiana State Reading Association, the local chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and the Huntington County Literacy Coalition.

Dr. Linda Urschel chairs the Department of English at Huntington College. She received her Ph.D. in English from Ball State University. She specializes in developmental writing, and has published several professional articles on the subject. Her interests include murder mysteries, folklore, and oral history. Her classes have published two volumes of Huntington County Folklore and Memories, books featuring the stories and oral traditions of long-time county residents.
