Graduate counseling program to host DSM-5™ seminar

HUNTINGTON, Ind. Huntington University's graduate counseling program will host a seminar on the DSM-5™ from 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Nov. 16 in Hiner Hall of the Dowden Science Hall on campus.This event is intended to help all licensed Indiana practitioners (LCSW, LMFT and LMHC) understand the recent changes to the DSM-5™, improve skills in assessing mental disorders, review the 20 diagnostic categories of the manual, and prepare for the changes in applying this assessment and the new numbering system.
Six hours of continuing education credit will be awarded to those attending this day-long event.
The featured speaker is Margaret (Gret) Machlan, who is recent past-president of Fellowship of Christian Counselors in Fort Wayne. She received her master's degree in social work and has 34 years of experience in the mental health field.
Machlan has developed interests and skills in many therapeutic tools, including transforming thoughts and emotional responses, inner healing prayer, and connecting authentically with others.
