Graduate School announces fall class schedule
FOR RELEASE: Wednesday, August 11, 2004
Huntington, Ind. "The Huntington College Graduate School of Christian Ministries announces its 2004 fall semester classes. The Graduate School will offer classes toward the completion of the Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry, the Master of Arts in Educational Ministry, the Master of Arts in Youth Ministry, the Master of Arts in Counseling Ministry and a Diploma in Pastoral Leadership. The graduate school program is designed for the pastor, Christian education director, youth minister, or other ministry staff who would like to earn the Master's degree or take specific classes of interest. The classes also provide an opportunity for laypersons, or those who are transitioning into ministry from a secular career, to develop their ministry skills.
The opportunity for graduate school often requires a person to relocate or enroll in a distance-learning program, said Dr. Gary House, Assistant Professor of Educational Ministries and Director of the M.A. in Pastoral Ministries at the Graduate School. Classes at the Graduate School of Christian Ministries are designed for those who want to further their education and ministry training without leaving their present ministry or work positions.
Each course is offered in a non-traditional format, typically meeting one Thursday and Friday each month for three months. The block format is designed to be worker-friendly and to allow for an intensive time of interaction as students and professors discuss ministry ideas and issues.
Classes offered for the 2004 fall semester, starting in September, include Motivation Learning and Teaching; Pastoral Counseling; Hermeneutics; Biblical Theology; Student Leadership in Youth Ministry; Communicating the Word; Ethics, Counseling & the Law; Psych Testing for Counselors; and Conflict Management.
The cost for senior adults, 55 years and older, is only $130 per class. For more information, contact the Graduate School of Christian Ministries at 1-888-424-7231 or graduate@huntington.edu. Information may also be found at the Graduate School web site at www.huntington.edu/gscm.
