Graduate School announces winter class schedule

Huntington, Ind. " The Huntington College Graduate School of Christian Ministries announces its winter semester classes. The Graduate School will offer classes toward the completion of the Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry, the Master of Arts in Educational Ministry, the Master of Arts in Youth Ministry and a Diploma in Pastoral Leadership.

The graduate school program is designed for the pastor, Christian education director, youth minister, or other ministry staff who would like to earn the Master's degree or take specific classes of interest. The classes also provide an opportunity for laypersons, or those who are transitioning into ministry from a secular career, to develop their ministry skills.

The opportunity for graduate school often requires a person to relocate or enroll in a distance-learning program, said Dr. Gary House, Assistant Professor of Educational Ministries and Director of Mentoring at the Graduate School. Classes at the Graduate School of Christian Ministries are designed for those who want to further their education and ministry training without leaving their present ministry or work positions.

Each course is offered in a non-traditional format, typically meeting one Thursday and Friday each month for three months. The block format is designed to be worker-friendly and to allow for an intensive time of interaction as students and professors discuss ministry ideas and issues.

Classes offered for the winter semester, starting in January, include, Historical Foundations of Ministry; Sociology of Adolescence; Human Development & Christian Nurture; Ministry Assessment; Biblical Seminar; Leading the Change Process, Ministry Mentor, and Clinical Pastoral Education.

The cost for senior adults, 55 years and older, is only $100 per class. For more information, contact the Graduate School of Christian Ministries at 888/424-7231 or graduate@huntington.edu. Information may also be found at the Graduate School web site at www.huntington.edu/gscm.
