Hands-on pottery exhibit to open in Wilson Gallery

HUNTINGTON, Ind. Indiana-based studio potter Scott Cooper will open a hands-on exhibit of "Pots Are For People" on Oct. 10. The exhibit will be showcased in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery of the Merillat Centre for the Arts at Huntington University.

For more than 20 years, Cooper has been making a wide range of functional pots that are intended for daily use. His exhibit in the Wilson Gallery will be a little different than others in that he wants visitors to have a hands-on experience. Anyone coming to view his work will actually be able to touch and pick up the pieces in order to fully appreciate their functionality.

The exhibit runs through Nov. 1 with an artist reception from 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 1.

The Wilson Gallery, located in the Merillat Centre for the Arts, is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., before and after all MCA performances and by appointment.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
