Hardaway Receives Frank Award

HUNTINGTON, IN MAY 18, 1997 In connection with the Huntington College Commencement, May 17, 1997, Department of History at Huntington College presented Mr. Scott Hardaway with the Ron Frank Memorial Award for Outstanding Scholarship in History. The Frank Award is given to graduating summa cum laude seniors with a major in history who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their undergraduate work and who give promise of exemplary contributions in their future careers.

Mr. Hardaway has been an outstanding student at Huntington College, with a double major in history and Bible and Religion, and membership in the College's Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society. He was also selected to participate in the 1996 Acton Institute summer program.

While a student, he participated in numerous co-curricular activities, including the student newspaper and the college radio station. At the same time, he served as pianist for the chapel worship team, jazz band, wind ensemble, and the College theater.

"It has been a great pleasure having Scott as a student in our department. He has demonstrated vigorous intellectual curiosity and a lively love of history in our classes. While we will miss his contributions to our campus, we know he will continue to demonstrate these strong academic qualities as he furthers his education in seminary." said Dr. Dwight D. Brautigam, chairman of the Department of History. Mr. Hardaway plans to continue his studies with graduate work at Asbury Seminary in Kentucky.

The Frank Fund was established in 1973 by the family and friends in memory of Ron Frank, a Huntington College student who died suddenly during his senior year. Awards from the fund are intended to support and encourage students of history at the College through scholarships, honor awards, and other grants.
