Harrison continues flight topic of Forester Lecture Series

Dr. A. A. Harrison will present the next Forester Lecture.

Huntington, Ind. " Dr. A. A. Harrison, Professor of Psychology at the University of California-Davis, will present The Right Stuff: From Kitty Hawk to Mars on Monday, October 6 at 7 p.m. His lecture serves as a part of Huntington College's Forester Lecture Series, which has celebrated the 100th anniversary of flight by having guest lecturers present various research and ideas on flight and the space program. The public is cordially invited to attend the free lecture in the Merillat Centre for the Arts Auditorium.

Dr. Albert A. Harrison has conducted extensive research on next-generation space missions, including a return trip to the Moon and initial human exploration of Mars. He recently received a large grant from NASA to investigate ways of integrating behavioral health research with flight operations. Harrison's presentation will speak to the biological and psychological demands of extreme flight conditions and the future prospects for human explorations of deep space.

Dr. Harrison received a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California-Santa Barbara, and his PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Michigan. Harrison has been teaching at UC-Davis since 1967, and has authored numerous academic papers and journals. He has also authored six books, most recently Spacefaring: The Human Dimension. Harrison is a member of NASA's Space Human Factors Science and Technology Work Group and the Permanent SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Committee of the International Academy of Astronautics.

The fall semester's Forester Lecture Series celebrates and explores humankind's pursuit of adventure and discovery in flight, using the 100th year anniversary of the Wright Brothers' flight at Kitty Hawk. One other Forester Lecture will be presented during the fall semester, investigating America's commitment to exploration and discovery in advanced air travel and spaceflight.
