HC philosophy department attends conference

Huntington, Ind. " Huntington College philosophy professors Dr. William Hasker, Dr. David Woodruff and Dr. John Sanders, along with five Huntington College students, recently attended the Society of Christian Philosophers conference, Midwest region, at Asbury College on December 4-6. Open Theism and its Critics served as the theme of the conference. Dr. Hasker, emeritus professor of philosophy, gave a plenary address while Dr. Woodruff, assistant professor of philosophy, and Dr. Sanders, research professor of philosophy and religion, co-authored the paper, Criticisms of Open Theism: Core Concepts and Basic Replies. Hasker and Sanders also served on a panel discussion along with professors from the University of Notre Dame and Calvin College .
The Society of Christian Philosophers was organized in 1978 to promote fellowship among Christian Philosophers and to stimulate study and discussion of issues which arise from their Christian and philosophical commitments. It strives to go beyond the usual philosophy of religion sessions at the American Philosophical Association and to stimulate thinking about the nature and role of Christian commitment in philosophy.
