Homecoming King and Queen announced

Huntington, Ind. "Huntington College students crowned their Homecoming King and Queen on Friday, October 5, 2001, in a well attended evening ceremony at the Huntington Union Building on campus. Julie Baker of Berrien Spring, Mich., and Tim Thompson of Bluffton, Ohio were awarded this year's honors. Julie Baker, a senior elementary education major, has been on the Dean's List every semester in her three years at HC. She is a member of the concert choir and is a freshman mentor. She has volunteered her time with Joe Mertz Center for Volunteer Service, where she has actively participated in Youth for Christ, Bingo Buddies, Fall Work Day and the Bridges tutoring program.

Tim Thompson, a senior business management major, has been a member of the HC soccer team for four years. He also is a freshman mentor and worked on the painting crew for the 1999 production of Our House. An outstanding student, Thompson has been on the Dean's List every semester in his three years at HC and was an NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete in 2000. He is also a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the athletic scholastic honor society.
Other Huntington College seniors nominated for the honor included Rachel Blue, an elementary education major from Fowlerville, Mich., Josh Willard, a youth ministries major from Jackson, Mich., Amanda Carr, an elementary education major from Lake Odessa, Mich., John Brittenham, a bible and religion major from South Milford, Ind., Jean Gizinski, a business education major from Lapeer, Mich., and Bruce Bergdall, an elementary education major from Huntington, Ind.
The rest of the Homecoming court included freshman representatives Luke Caldwell (Mansfield, Ohio) and Erin Groth (Winchester, Ind.), sophomore representatives Kyle Shoemaker (Westfield, Ind.) and Diana Ashley (Fort Wayne, Ind.), and junior representatives Adam Setmeyer (Noblesville, Ind.) and Clarissa Barker (Wyanet, Ill.).
