Hopper, Kaylor present senior art exhibit

HUNTINGTON, Ind. "In completion of bachelor degrees, Huntington College seniors Brooke Hopper and Lori Kaylor will present a joint art exhibit of personal works from December 4 to 21 in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. A reception for the artists will be held in the Wilson Gallery on Saturday, December 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. In completing her bachelor's degree in fine art, Ms. Hopper's body of work, entitled Earthen Bodies, will feature clay and metal sculptures based on the relationship between humanity and nature. The exhibit includes her Ocean Travelers, which won the Best of Show award in the 10th Annual Huntington College Student Art Show, held this past April, and is now a permanent part of the Robert E. Wilson Gallery collection. Other pieces winning awards in the show were Guilt, Outstanding Achievement in Sculpture, Sea Dish Set, Outstanding Achievement in Ceramics; and Beginning's End, Outstanding Achievement in Printmaking.
Ms. Kaylor, completing a bachelor's degree in art education, will present I Am, which includes ceramic sculptural and vessel forms, as well as illustrations for a children's book. Ms. Kaylor's work reflects the multiple roles she fills in her life as artist, teacher, student and parent.
Both artists are residents of Huntington, Ind.
Art is among many rigorous programs of study at Huntington College. Founded in 1897, the Christian liberal arts college offers bachelor's and master's degrees in nearly 50 academic concentrations. US News and World Report ranks Huntington among the top twenty liberal arts colleges in the Midwest.
