HU music department presents student voice recital

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington University's senior contralto Kaitlin Tippin and junior soprano Breana Balliet will present a combined vocal recital at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Longaker Recital Hall in the lower level of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.Kaitlin Tippin, from Bryan, Ohio, is a senior music business major. She has been involved in the women's chorale and concert choir at Huntington University. While spending Fall Semester of 2010 in Cheltenham, England, Tippin was a member of the choir at the University of Gloucestershire University. She was also in women's chorus, A Cappella choir, and show choir throughout high school. She has studied voice for eight years: four years with Melissa Baughman of Montpelier, Ohio, and four years with Joni Killian at Huntington University. While in high school Tippin was involved in seven musicals including "Fiddler on the Roof ," "Anything Goes," "Children of Eden," "Oklahoma," "Into the Woods," "Les Miserables" and "Beauty and the Beast."
Breana Balliet is a junior theatre performance major and music minor from Kahoka, Mo. During her first year at Huntington University, Balliet competed at NATS, and she was a member of women's chorale and worship ensemble. She is currently a member of the concert choir. This is her third year studying voice with Joni Killian at HU. While attending Van Wert High School, she was a member of the choir and symphony band for four years. During her junior year at Van Wert, she qualified for the District III OMEA Honors Band. She qualified for the District III OMEA Honors Choir during her senior year. Balliet has participated in several Huntington University stage productions which include: "Scrooge the Musical," "Beauty and the Beast," "The Mikado" and "Picnic." She will also be in the upcoming production of "Guys and Dolls" this spring.
