HU students launch club to promote creativity
FOR RELEASE: Tuesday, October 29, 2013
HUNTINGTON, Ind. Huntington University's digital media arts students have launched a new club to give students the opportunity to share ideas and discuss upcoming projects. The AdFed Chapter is an off-shoot of the Advertising Federation of Fort Wayne, which is a non-for profit advertising club that is part of a larger, nationwide network of professionals.
The club is for any student who wants a creative career but is not sure where to start. It is made up of digital media arts and graphic design majors, but it is open to artists, writers and those interested in the business side of advertising.
The club is for students to experience the professional workplace while providing opportunities for competitions, scholarships and awards. Through the club, students can participate in local and nationwide competitions called the ADDY Awards. Last year, HU students took home 22 awards from the competition.
"It is a prime opportunity for students to interact with one another and see what they are working on, while learning more about their field," said Matt Nelson, student adviser for the chapter.
