HU to present evening of big band and jazz music

Huntington, Ind. "The Huntington University Concert Choir will join with the Columbia City High School choirs and Columbia City's professional Blue River Big Band to present Jazz Time, an evening of big band and jazz music on Saturday, October 29 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will take place in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The nearly 80-voice choir under the direction of conductors, George Killian and Hersel Cremeans, will perform popular jazz favorites, such as Charlie Chaplin's Smile, Nat King Cole's Straighten Up and Fly Right, Hoagy Carmichael's Georgia on My Mind and Louis Prima's Sing, Sing, Sing, along with many others.
The Blue River Big Band, made up of professional musicians from the Columbia City area, will be performing several toe-tappin' big band songs. Directed by the Todd Ward, the band will mark its second collaboration with the Huntington University Concert Choir.
This is a general seating event. Tickets will be available at the door or may be reserved by calling the Merillat Centre for the Arts Box Office at (260) 359-4261.
