Using the same technique that Joe Chaikin used with the Open Theatre in the 1960's the play I, Faustus was born. Created when a team of writers went through Christopher Marlow's, Dr. Faustus and Goethe's Faustus, the play I, Faustus picked pieces and themes that were relevant to a modern audience. The writers then presented the actors with outlines and ideas and allowed them to improvise scenes, dialogues, monologues and movements. The writers took all of the outlines and ideas and shaped it into an 80-minute play. In the spirit of this theatre technique, the Huntington College production cast and crew created its own adaptation of I, Faustus.

Directed by Mike Burnett, assistant professor of theatre arts and director of theatre at Huntington College, the production focuses on Faustus, an aging scholar who makes a bargain for knowledge. Sent to distract Faustus from questioning the decision, the devil's disciple, Mephistopheles, lures Faustus into a spellbinding world of spectacular visions.
