Huntington considers “university” status

On October 17, 2003, the Huntington College Board of Trustees authorized the appointment a new task force to investigate the feasibility of assuming university status. The University Status Task Force will meet over the next several months to review the advantages and disadvantages of such a move. Topics to be considered include market position, enrollment impact, constituent perceptions, and higher education trends.
The group will present its report to the president and Board of Trustees in April, 2004. If university status is recommended, the task force will suggest potential names.
Members of the Task Force include HC president Blair Dowden, professors Jerry Smith and Lance Clark, trustees Gary Dilley and Kelly Savage, Alumni Board member Janet Clark, Student Senate president Joanna Shenk, and community representative Steve Zahn. John Paff, executive assistant to the president, will serve as staff to the Task Force.
