Huntington hosts Second Annual Band Invitational

Huntington, Ind. "The Huntington College Wind Ensemble will join with the Crestview Middle School Band and the Huntington North High School Band to present the Second Annual Band Invitational Concert on Tuesday, October 12. The downbeat for this evening of exciting instrumental favorites will start at 7 p.m., in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Concert admission is free and open to the public. The evening's featured musical selections will include Rhapsody of the Sea by John Moss, Karl King's Coast Guards march, the Sabre Dance by Khachaturian, the concert march Brighton Beach by William Latham, Joi by Robert Logan, Ed Huckeby's American Folk Fantasia, Model T by Sammy Nestico, Henry Fillmore's Rolling Thunder march, Frackenpohl's Variations for Tuba and Winds, and John Williams The Cowboys.
Dr. Marlene Schleiffer, director of instrumental music and musicology at Huntington College, will serve as director for the Huntington College Wind Ensemble. The Crestview Middle School Band will be led by Douglas McElhaney while the Huntington North High School Band will be directed by Thaine Campbell and Scott Hippensteel.
