Huntington names Fairchild as Staff Member of Year

Huntington, Ind. "Huntington University recently held its annual appreciation dinner for faculty and staff. Many campus community members were recognized for their service to the University, while Darlene Fairchild was honored with the Staff Member of the Year award.

Fairchild, the University's switchboard and data entry operator, was chosen by faculty and staff members at Huntington University as the Staff Member of the Year. She has served the University for 11 years and before receiving the award, Dr. G. Blair Dowden recognized her for her courteousness, multi-tasking abilities, attention to details as well as her dedication to the University and her family.

Others recognized at the banquet included Dr. Mary Ruthi, professor of sociology, who was selected as the Professor of the Year by the student body. Members of the campus community who have served for five years received a Huntington University pin. Those individuals included Mike Burnett, George Killian, Randy Metzger, Kay Schwob, Ray Seilhamer, Gary Turner and Kathy Turner.

Plaques for ten years of service were presented to Del Doughty, Jodi Fiedler and Pam Rudy. An engraved pen and pencil set for 15 years of service was given to G. Blair Dowden, Bruce Evans, Becky Lyons and Kevin Vanden Akker.

Ronald Coffey, Lori Culler, Mark Fairchild and Steven Lee were presented with an individualized gift for 20 years of service. For 25 years of service, Sarah Harvey, Ann McPherren and Mary Ruthi were given a desk clock. In addition, Francis Jones and Thomas King were recognized for 35 years of service with an individualized gift.
