Huntington senior arts students to present “ART” show

Huntington, Ind. "Six Huntington University senior art students will display their talents and artistic growth through four years at Huntington in an exhibit at the Robert E. Wilson Gallery. Sarah Clifford, Lynsi Griffin, Heather Hatfield, Luke Hopper, Amanda Reed, and Kristina Thompson will present their senior art exhibit, ART, in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery of the Merillat Centre for the Arts from April 20 to May 5, 2006. The seniors invite the public to attend an artist reception in the gallery on Saturday, April 22, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. The Robert E. Wilson Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and before all Merillat Centre for the Arts performances.
Sarah Clifford of Russell, Pa., is the daughter of David and Diane Clifford. She will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine art this May. Clifford's artwork focuses on the exploration of color through the oil medium along with different paint application methods. These elements will be brought out with the subject matter of abstracted domestic objects, such as shoes and coffee cups.
Lynsi Griffin of Marion, Ind., is the daughter of Nancy Griffin and Terry Griffin. Griffin used original photography and graphic design to create a cookbook, Palate Pleasers. She also took photographs with a photojournalistic approach to show people in their own element. Griffin will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design this May.
Heather Hatfield of Clarksburg, W.V., is the daughter of Lee Hatfield. She will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine art in December. Hatfield is exploring the form of tea sets and drinking vessels through ceramics. These pieces were created to emphasize the principles of art.
Luke Hopper, son of Ken and Margie Hopper from Huntington, Ind., will graduate this spring with a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design. Hopper's artwork consists of original photography, enhanced through the use of computer programs such as Adobe Photoshop.
My goal was to create images that are thought provoking and give the viewer a glimpse of who I really am, Hopper said.
Amanda Reed is from Harrisburg, Pa., daughter of Calvin and Ada Reed. She will be graduating from Huntington University in May with a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine art, concentrating in ceramics. She created musical instruments and a dinnerware set.
My goal is to create an atmosphere of an elegant banquet "one fit for a King "that could only be found in heaven, but I am trying to give the illusion of that, Reed said.
Kristina Thompson is the daughter of Brian and Pam Thompson of Becker, Minn. She will be showcasing a series of posters exploring the purpose of art that she created with digital photography and illustration, as well as a children's book she has written and illustrated. Thompson will graduate this spring with a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design, as well as minors in writing and fine arts.
