Huntington Theatre Ensemble to present ‘Gift of Magi’
FOR RELEASE: Tuesday, November 21, 2006
Huntington, Ind.-The Huntington University Theatre Ensemble will present "The Gift of the Magi" on Dec. 1-2 in the Merillat Centre for the Arts. "Della" and "Jim" are a young married couple with very little money, and the two must scrimp for everything. On the day before Christmas, Della counts the money she has painstakingly saved for months. She is dismayed to find she has less than $2, hardly enough to buy anything at all. After a good cry, Della determines to find a way to buy Jim the present he deserves. As she looks into a mirror, an idea comes to her. A heart-warming story whose moral reminds us that physical possessions, however valuable they may be, are of little value in the grand scheme of things. The true unselfish love that the characters, Jim and Della, share is far greater than any of their possessions.
Performances on Dec. 1 will be at 9 a.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium and 9 p.m. in the Studio Theatre while Dec. 2 shows will be at 2 and 7:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre. For tickets, call the Merillat Centre for the Arts Box Office at (260) 359-4261. Tickets are $2 for general admission.
