Huntington to hold 17th Annual Student Art Exhibit

Huntington, Ind.-Artist Mee Kyung Shim will serve as guest juror for Huntington University's 17th Annual Student Art Exhibit, to be held in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery on April 10-24.

Shim earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Wayne State University in Michigan in 1999. She has exhibited widely in the Midwest since moving from South Korea to the U.S. Locally, her work has been shown at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Artlink, and Avant-Garde and Kachmann galleries in Fort Wayne. In addition, she has been awarded fellowships and artist-in-residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado.

Shim will select the work for the student art exhibit as well as award best of show, first place, second place, third place and special achievement recognitions.

The pieces for the exhibit were created by Huntington University students, freshmen through seniors, who are enrolled in one or more art courses. This will be the first exhibition for this particular work. All types of media will be represented.

An artist reception and awards ceremony will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on April 14 in the Wilson Gallery.
