Huntington to host 6th Annual Band Invitational

Huntington, Ind.-Bands from Huntington County Schools, the Taylor University Wind Ensemble and the Huntington University Wind Ensemble will present the 6th Annual Band Invitational, a gala program of concert band classics, on Oct. 7.

The Huntington University Wind Ensemble with Dr. Robert Lynn, director, will share this concert with the Taylor University Wind Ensemble with Dr. Albert Harrison, conductor; and the Huntington North High School Concert Band with Thaine Campbell, conductor.

Music featured will include "Vesuvius," by Frank Ticheli, "Chant and Jubilo" by W. Francis McBeth. The two university groups will be under the direction of Dr. Joseph Scagnoli, former director of bands at Ball State University. They will perform two band classics, "Nobles of the Mystic Shrine" by Sousa and "English Folk Song Suite" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and a newer work, "With Each Sunset" by Richard Saucedo. The free concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.
