Huntington to host Annual Concerto Winners Concert

Huntington, Ind. "Four Huntington University students and two other area students will perform in Huntington University's Sixth Annual Concerto Winners Concert, set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2006, in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Kara Judy
The concert features the winners of the Huntington University Concerto Competition, which was held last October. Performers from the University are sophomore contemporary church music major Kara Judy of Princeton, Ind., soprano; senior contemporary church music major Rusty Eshleman of Saint Thomas, Pa., baritone; freshman mathematics major Mark Stonitsch of Minooka, Ill., piano; and senior music performance major Jolene Gipe of Columbia City, Ind., piano.

Area student performers will include Victor Mormon of Monroeville, Ind., piano, and William Dennis, violin. Mormon, a student of Anny Chiu, owner and master teacher at Ascendo Studios in Fort Wayne, Ind., was the high school division winner. Dennis of Kendallville, Ind., was the junior division winner. He is a student of violinist Carla Trynchuk of Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich. Both Mormon and Dennis are homeschooled.
Each will perform with the Huntington University Chamber Orchestra, directed by Mr. Scott Hippensteel, director of instrumental studies.
