Huntington to present Concerto Winners Concert

Huntington, Ind.-Four Huntington University students and one area student will perform in Huntington University's Ninth Annual Concerto Winners Concert, set for 7:30 p.m. on April 23 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

The concert features the winners of the Huntington University Concerto Competition held in November of 2008.

Performers from the university include sophomore soprano Ashlyn Brady of Macomb, Mich., a choral music education major, who will sing "Ain't it a Pretty Night" and "The Trees on the Mountain" from "Susannah" by Carlisle Floyd. Sophomore pianist, Tana Denning of Lansing, Mich., a piano performance major, will play "Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54" by Robert Schumann. Sophomore soprano, Anna Willard of Chesterton, Ind., a choral music education major, will sing "Non disperar, V'adoro, pupille" and "Piangero la sorte mia" from "Giulio Cesare" by George Frideric Handel. Freshman soprano Sarah Yanovitch of Griswold, Conn., a vocal performance major, will sing "In uomini, in soldati" and "Una donna a quindici anni" from "Cosi fan tutte" by Wolfgang A. Mozart.

Eighteen-year-old area student, Rachel Mossburg from Uniondale, Ind., will perform "Concerto No. 4" by Wolfgang Amade Mozart on the violin.

Each will perform with the Huntington University Chamber Orchestra directed by Dr. Robert Lynn, director of instrumental studies.
