Huntington University shines at Fort Wayne ADDY Awards

Addy Student Group thumbHUNTINGTON, Ind. Huntington University's digital media arts students shined at the Fort Wayne ADDY Awards Saturday night, taking home 13 student golds and eight student silvers in the annual creative advertising contest. Senior Tyler Johnson also took home the People's Choice Award for "Epic Adventures of a Heroic Man." This is the largest representation by Huntington ever at this event.

This annual competition recognizes advertising creative excellence from students and local advertising and media professionals. Entries are judged on creativity, originality and creative strategy.

"We are so proud of our students who pour themselves into their films and animations. This is a terrific way to celebrate their art and accomplishments," said Dr. Lance Clark, professor of digital media arts film and communication. "Our digital media arts program is really getting a reputation for excellence."

The Student ADDY Awards Competition is a unique national awards program designed specifically for college students. Work entered at the local level can move up to the regional and national judging.

The following HU students, alumni and faculty took home Student ADDYs:

Lynn Morrow, a senior animation major from Centerville, Ind., received gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Illustration, Single category for "Jolly Mammycakes;" gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Animation or Special Effects category for "Plume;" and silver in the same category for "Deer."

Shanay Anderson
, a senior animation major from Baker City, Ore., received silver in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Illustration, Single category for "Chump Change."

Tyler Keff Beasley, a senior film production major from Salem, Va., received gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Cinematography category for "The Fort Wayne Ballet" and silver in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Illustration, Single category for "Gingersnap."

Matt Nelson, a junior animation major from Granger, Ind., received gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Animation or Special Effects category for "Adrift" and silver in the same category for "Wake."

Tyler Johnson, a senior animation major from Maplewood, Minn., received gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Animation or Special Effects category for "Epic Adventures of a Heroic Man" as well as the People's Choice Award.

Yo han Lee, a senior animation major from Seoul, Republic of Korea, and Matt Twigg, a senior animation major from Huntington, Ind., both took home gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Animation or Special Effects category for "Flight."

, a senior animation major from Defiance, Ohio, and Mike Ackerman, a senior animation major from Pioneer, Ohio, both took home gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Animation or Special Effects category for "Common Ground."

Anthony Frederick, a senior film production major from Portage, Ind., took home gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Cinematography category for "Ascension Trailer;" gold in the same category for "The Harmony Initiative;" silver in the same category for "Apple;" silver in the same category for "Freehauf" and gold in the same category for "The Fort Wayne Ballet."

Alec Rosario, a 2012 business management major from Valparaiso, Ind., silver in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Cinematography category for "Apple."

Matt Shouse, freshman film production major from Fairmount, Ind., silver in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Cinematography category for "Freehauf."

Jonathan Scales, a sophomore film production major from Albuquerque, N.M., and Luke Myers, a sophomore film production major from Franklinville, N.Y., both received gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Cinematography category for "Foley Pit."

Steven Sproul, a junior film production major from Clarion, Pa., received gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Cinematography category for "Working Bikes" and gold in the same category for "The Fort Wayne Ballet."

Ben Daron
, a senior film studies major from Plymouth, Ohio, received silver in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Cinematography category for "Habitat for Humanity Restore."

The Animation II Class of 2009
, directed by Steve Leeper, associate professor of digital media arts at HU, received gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Animation or Special Effects category for "Frogs."

The Animation 1 Class of 2011, directed by Tyler Welker, a 2008 animation alum and visiting instructor of digital media arts at HU, took home gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Animation or Special Effects category for "Steel City."

Tyler Welker also received gold in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Cinematography category for "The Fort Wayne Ballet."

Ryan Paxton, a 2012 animation alum from Cincinnati, Ohio, received silver in the Elements of Advertising - Visual, Animation or Special Effects category for "Kuipers Sail."
